Working in the intersection of quiltmaking, sculpture and assemblage, Amelia Skelton’s practice investigates the complexity of textiles; their abundance, familiarity, significance and inherent political implications. Using textiles found at second-hand stores, in discount bins, or gifted from friends and family, Skelton’s practice poses alternative ways of engaging with old, thrown-away, unused and unloved objects, emphasising their value beyond use and exchange.
